Alliums and Coreopsis

The alliums are about 3' tall and 2" round.

Carnation "Spooky"

We added this kooky flower this year.

Early Summer Bouquet

I like to pack this violet pot with different cuttings every week. If the arrangement is cut low it's less likely to blow away off the porch.

Hi-Low Tech: Intersection of High Technology and Traditional Crafts

Some of the projects this MIT group are working on include: attractive, interactive wallpaper that can be programmed to control lighting and sound; circuits that might be painted or drawn on paper; crafts and needleworks that sense inclination using materials such as conductive threads, yarns, fabrics, and paints. These materials are used to sew, knit, crochet, embroider, and laminate, creating a range of textile-based tilt sensors that form a tilt-sensing quilt; and a toolkit that enables people to build soft, flexible, fabric-based computers. You can see some of this exciting stuff on You Tube.

Rodarte-Asian Horror Fashion Design

A clothing line inspired by the Asian horror film genre -- designed by a team of two sisters. The line was partly influenced by the effect and color of blood-soaked fabric.

Textiles Made of Color-Changing Light

Remarkably engaging, responsive, and tactile light and textile technology has me mesmerized. You have to see what artist and technologist Maggie Orth is doing. If you view Bullseye and Moving Target, both those artworks’ pages have videos that show her textiles' color/light changing in action.

The company International Fashion Machines is the brainchild of Maggie Orth. All her great work and more can be found at IFM, including the sale of ElectroPUFF lamp dimmer for kids and and other fuzzy soft wall dimmers and switches.

Color-Changing Fabric

Designer Bob Bland at Brooklyn Royalty used super cool textiles that change color with body heat. Body Faders can print custom rolls of fabric, your own clothing, and sell their own Ts and hoodies.

New Venture

Look soon for my line of beaded jewelry inspired by the garden. It will include beads and closures I make from kiln fired silver. Most pieces will initially be sold at Etsy.com. I will keep you "posted".
